Bells from Shipwrecks:

An original set of postcards proposed by Association President John Sumner (Sept 2008)

Following many years of actively spearfishing and diving on shipwrecks (over 100 in NSW) I began a collection of post cards of shipwrecks and began taking digital photos of items recovered from Australian shipwrecks. This provided me with a number of photos of bells from shipwrecks. By August 2008, I had over 10 bells which I had eight printed as a set of Post Cards. The first sets were made available at the NSW Post Card Collectors Fair on 31/8/2008. These Post Cards sell for $1.25 each or $5 per set +pp. The set is: ALBERTA, FAWN, HEREWARD, MAITLAND, MALABAR, MINMI, UNDOLA and URANA. .

Some bell photos that may be in the next set are: YESSABAR, MYOLA, ENERGY, DUNBAR, GWYDIR, BOMBO, YONGALA, etc. I have made a number of requests to the holders of other bells and the response has been very slow.

In 2007, I produced a CATALOGUE OF AUSTRALIAN SHIPWRECK POST CARDS (CASP) which has been received very well. It contains over 150 shipwrecks and about 40 items from wrecks. CASP costs $7 + $1 pp. I had hoped to update CASP during 2008 but things have delayed it. Still under development I am keen to be advised of post cards or details on shipwreck bells for the future productions. Remember, I attend the NSW Post Card Society Fairs held each three months, where I receive much good feed back about my collecting.
